november 2004 pretty (ugly before) uk single and miami benefit in decemeber! (correction) while looking on ebay, i saw a listing for a promo cd of the u.k. version of pretty (ugly before). after other fans on sweet addy did some research, it looks like domino recording co is releasing an u.k. version of the pretty (ugly before) 7" with new artwork on december 6th. it also looks like the dutch will also release a limited edition 12" version of it too! if you are interested in ordering it, you can order the 7" online at hmv or the 7" and 12" at 101cd.com. no word at this time if other unreleased tracks will make either releases or if a cd version will exist featuring both songs.. (thanks to makeshift hammer and loveishell7) correction: the pretty (ugly before) single isn't the same single that suicide squeeze released. the version of "pretty ugly (before)" is the same as on "from a basement" and the version of "distorted reality" is the one that was used on "future soundtrack of america." thanks to jordan thanks to matthew and everyone involved for putting on an elliott benefit in miami! here is what matthew posted on sweet addy about it: it's a go! that miami benefit, that is. performers will include yours truly, nacho, and brendan o'hara. i contacted iron and wine but i don't know, he was busy or something. his tours even leave the date wide open but still no dice. the show will take place december 3rd at ransom everglades upper school in coconut grove. all proceeds from tickets and overpriced drinks will go directly to the memorial fund.for more updates, you might want to check this thread on sweet addy! (11.22.04) e.s. fan documentry and new spin magazine article out now thanks to jessica and other elliott fans for working on an upcoming fan documentry about elliott. this documentry is a fan one and everyone is invited to be a part of it. organizers for the project are looking for people to film their own or others interviews about their feelings and stories about elliott and his music if you knew elliott personally or not. we hope you can all be involved. so far a few fans have signed up including aaron from earlimart and jim from grandaddy :) i hope to be a part of it too. if you are wondering what questions would be good ones to ask yourself (or someone else if you are taping them), please go to jessica's post on sweet addy. there you will find all the infomation you need to sign up and get an idea of questions that help give you ideas. there are also people volunteering their time in certain cites/areas in case you do not have access to a video camera. anyway please go here to read what you can do to help out and hopefully make it a really great documentry :) by the way the documentry is called so far: future butterfiles. also, the new spin magazine has a 10 page article on elliott. the issue features u2 on the cover and i hear they include rare photos of elliott too. the issue is barely coming out so keep looking on the newstands in the next fews days. (11.14.04) the elliott smith gallery, meet me in the city/jsbx, and triple j elliott show thanks to scott for creating a new and beautiful elliott smith picture site called, the elliott smith gallery. the site features images of elliott over the years and also encourages fans to upload their favorite images of elliott as well. the gallery also features links to other elliott sites too. check it out by going here: the elliott smith gallery thanks for scott and simon for creating it! :) thanks to rob for noticing that the new 7" single from the blues explosion (john spencer's blues explosion) includes a b-side called "meet me in the city" and it features a performance by elliott. it is a cover of blues legend junior kimbrough and elliott plays guitar on it. the single (hot gossip) is set to be released in the uk on november 15th. there is no release date at this time for a release of it in north america. this 7" might be only available in europe but you can order the import at sire disc by searching for hot gossip. thanks to dante for letting us know that triple j has recently archived the show they did on oct. 23. it looks back on elliott's music and includes some exclusive rare tracks, interviews with elliott and former band mates and showcase the new record. please click here to check it out: the j files (11.4.04)
