Elliott Smith - Alphabet Town
I was used to play this song by Tony's tab, which was much satisfying to me, but i tried it
while listening to the CD and i found something that changes quite a lot. Here it is.
To play it you must tune your upper E down to D. (By the way, Elliott also does that on
« taking the easy way out », i don't think it's worth changing all the existing tab.)
So what you've got here is the following tuning :
D
B
G
D
A
E
You can play it with a capo on the 2nd fret, if you are - as Elliott, usually - one step down.
E 022100
F# 244322
F 133211
C (3)32010 or x32010
A x02220
C#2 x35553 or x35353 i'm not sure
Important : on most of those chords, you have to hammer the upper E become a D at the 2nd
fret, doing something like
E
D -------0h2-
B -------0-
G -------1-
D -------2-
A -------2-
E -------0-
Or
A
D -------0h2-
B -------2-
G -------2-
D -------2-
A -------0-
E ---------
Listen to the CD if you don't find the right way to do it.
Intro:
E B A C
D -3-4-2-0-
B -------0-
G -------1-
